Grand Canyon Vacation

I have so much to say! It feels like it's been a long time since my last post though I don't remember when it was.  I keep taking pictures and thinking of things that I want to post about, but I never seem to have time.  I don't know if it's just me, or if it takes everyone forever to write a post they are happy with. Here is a list of the things I've done since my last post.

1- took a trip to the Grand Canyon: We had never been to the Grand Canyon and figured since hey! it's Arizona. How cold can it get? that it would be a great winter break trip.  It was beautiful and we also got a chance to go sledding (kind of) which is something we hadn't been able to do for a long time.  The people were all nice, except for a few (who had obviously never seen a snow storm before). Also, we were sung to by a guy with a guitar while traveling in a train to reach the canyon.  Awesome.

2- went sledding:
It was a beautiful drive to Wing Mountain to go sledding, but It was also terrifying. There were so many crashes and car slides we lost count. Scary. We did end up being able to go sledding, even though they closed the main hill.  We broke all of our (four) sleds.  This is what happens when your hill is rocky and your sleds are flimsy.  Dangit

3- ate at Jimmy Johns: (I've wanted to do this ever since I saw it here last week)

4- Found these shoes at Forever 21 for $2.50: I almost died.

5- redecorated my bedroom wall:

6- drew a picture of a super nice lady on a train: On our train ride up to the Grand Canyon the attendant noticed that I had out my sketch book and stopped to talk to us.  She jokingly asked me to draw a picture of her, and I did.  It made my day, maybe even my week, when she walked up and down the car to show everyone.  I've got a picture of it somewhere.  Maybe I'll add it in later.

7- had fro yo with my cute cousins: My aunt, uncle and their adorable kids came to visit from Boise, Idaho before Christmas and we had a great time showing them around and hanging out.
(my weird little sister and cousin Kiera)

8- got a "steal" in Down East:  We walked around the mall for a while last week trying to find a steering wheel cover for my Dad, and my Mom dragged me into Down East.  I was so annoyed, but actually found some really cute skirts.  Have you been into Down East? It's the best, right behind Cozy, for finding modest and cute clothes and shoes.  Anyway, the lady at the register thought my skirt was "a steal".

9-signed up for guitar lessons: This is something I've wanted to do for a long time.  I hadn't been able to get my hands on an affordable guitar until last summer (end of August) my Uncle sold his at the family auction we have each year.  I got it for a great price and he immediately started showing me things I would need to know to get started.  When I got home from the family reunion I had been at, I practiced and practiced but it soon became apparent that I would need much more than a book to help me learn.  (My uncle taught himself.  If that isn't talent, I don't know what is.) Last week we wandered into a music shop to find piano sheet music for my younger sister and the guy at the desk asked if we were interested in lessons.  Heck yes! :) We signed up right away.

blogging is hard work!

To start off with I'm going to link you to a blogpost you will need to read in order to understand this post.  So read it please! http://busybeelauren.blogspot.com (fangirl-five)

...and I want to talk about a book. This book ^^^^^^^
I've read one time and am in the process of the second time, and I love it! I couldn't agree more with Lauren (busybeelauren.blogspot) about Mhino being the bomb (.com) Way better than Thomas.  But.... I do have to say that I love (SPOILER ALLERT) when Thomas promises Chuck he will find his parents when he gets out of the maze.  So sweet! Awwweeeee.  So anyway. As Lauren would say.... The Maze Runner and it's Sequel The Scorch Trials are totally "awesomespice" :D  K now read The Scorch Trials too so we can sob about how sad it is when (SPOILER FREAKING ALLERT) They get out of ___ _____ and Chuck ____...  Ok I can't say it all because what if you looked down here and saw it before you read that it was a spoiler allert? I do that with books all the time and it gives stuff away that I don't want to know yet. Or just confuses me.  So just read it please. And then I can spoil it later.  But PLEASE don't rush through them too fast, because you'll miss stuff and the third book isn't coming out for a long long long time (probably) because The Scorch Trials JUST came out.  Lots of capital letters in this post huh? xoxo Meg

Winter break baby!

So today is the first day of winter break and I'm absolutely loving it.  I'm dropping my stress and not worrying about anything (except for that essay I need to email to my social studies teacher D: ) Anyway, we went to the mall today and found close to nothing though my Dad seems extremely confident in his findings. I don't know about you, but I love love love Forever 21.  It was ridiculous I had to look at the floor when we "passed through" so I wouldn't run off!  Their shoe selection this time of year is amazing.  Just amazing.  It's times like those when I wish I wouldn't attempt to save up for other things.
On a different note, I've been making lots of inspiration boards and collages lately.  Let me show you some of the things I've been excited about.

1. Rihanna's red hair. Specifically in her music video for Only Girl in The World.
2. fishtail/mermaid braids.  I love the huge exaggerated braids in the front (farthest right picture)
3. M.I.A.'s natural short waves
4. floral and lace tights
5. the fifties

family portraits and antique shops

We got our pictures taken today after probably three years without getting them done. Definitely necessary... Our old ones were... old.  So anyway, we had them taken in Scottsdale by a woman by the name of Marci and her husband Brian.  They were super nice, and It wasn't awkward or at all like I imagined it would be :D.  ha ha  I think their going to turn out awesome.  Cross your fingers :)
Scottsdale is actually a pretty cool place.  I was wondering about it when we pulled in to the park we were getting our pictures done at, and the general population were men and women over the age of 60, but It actually turned out to be a cool place if your into pizza places, vintage-y ice cream shops, and trees with leaves that are changing color.  I'm kind of a dork, but I love antique/vintage shops and I was kind of hoping we would find some afterwords, but we didn't.  I love Bisbee and downtown Glendale, because If you can find the right places the streets are lined with antique stores and little handmade stuff shops.  There are about a block of cute little shops ran out of old houses in downtown Glendale, which I love, and in Bisbee the streets are literally lined with antique stores.  I have no idea how they keep up and running with all the competition! I don't care though, as long as they do stay up.  I loved our trip to Bisbee/Tombstone, but I'm not sure if we'll be going back very soon, as my Mom had a bad experience with a librarian, but I can still love it right? :) I want to post some new pictures I have been working on, well really some new some old, but I've been drawing a lot lately.  I don't have a sketch book (I've been told I should get one) but I think even if I did I would still have a bunch of loose odds and ends + papers.  I don't just sit down and say "I'm going to draw now and It's going to turn out great!" because a good half of the time they don't turn out good.  I don't know how people keep all of their ideas/ drawings in one place!  Believe me, I have tried, but I always end up ripping out paper for notes, and I still doodle on random papers that often get lost.  My point is, that I think if I post them here, I will still be able to go back to them even if I lose them. (which hopefully I won't) good idea? We'll see. Probably not.   :)

YBP

Alrighty, I've been meaning to post for a few days now, but you know, everything just gets all crazy around this time of year. Never mind, I'm not using that excuse.
I actually just couldn't think of anything to post about. How awful is that!? But now I do have something to post about, two things now that I think of it, and their names are Yellow Bird Project and Blik.  You'll see.

The Yellow Bird Project it...
"We are a Montreal-based nonprofit called Yellow Bird Project. We work with an amazing range of indie rock musicians to create unique t-shirt designs that benefit an array of charities, each chosen by the musicians."

I guess that's a simple enough way to explain what they are, stolen right off their own website! http://www.yellowbirdproject.com/our_story    They make money for charities by selling super cool t-shirts designed by the super cool indie bands that we all love. "Can life get better? I submit that it cannot!" - Brian Regan  Well anyway, sadly, I have to finish this post later. xxx Meg

Christina Perri

Alright so time for a crazy fan post.  I heard Christina Perri's song Jar Of Hearts a little while ago, and I liked it, but I didn't really go look for more of her music, and I moved on with my life.  So now I'm hearing it more often, and it's on TV and people are taking notice.  That's what it takes for me to look her up!? Well anyway, I did and I was hopeful, but worried that I would only find the one song and nothing else.  What I found, made my day!  She really does have a wonderful voice, and other songs that I like equally as well as Jar of Hearts.  :) Well, I'm very excited for the future (her future :) and to see what else she will do.
OK, so second part to this post is about my hair.  Yes, a serious and controversial problem. Just Kidding... :) But anyway, I've been trying to find a way to shake my hair up a little bit without cutting it all off again.  I'm trying to grow it out after having it short for years.  Last year I finally cut it off (randomly I might add) boy short, with bangs, and I wore it wavy or spiky usually and it was really fun for a while, but I decided to try something new.  The problem is, that if I want to try something new and go completely opposite, I can easily chop it off (my mom is a cosmetologist) and I will have something new to mess with.  But, If I have short hair, I cannot go back to my mom and tell her to please grow it back.  If only it worked that way.  (sigh) :) But, I have found a solution.  Watch- here is where it ties back to Christina Perri.  Have you seen her hair!? Of course you have, there are pictures in my post! :) My solution is hair dye, but not so much that my mom will refuse.  And not a complete change (because I like my natural brunette) She's got a bleached piece in her brown (almost the same color as my natural) hair.  So, I am borrowing her style, as soon as I can talk my Mom into doing it for me :D and you know what is great?  She just bought a new container of bleach.  :D (too many smiley faces in this post? Nah :)

This post is a little bit all over the place.

I havn't posted in a really long time, so reading back through my posts I wonder what I was thinking some times when I posted those things! Anyway, I'm excited for all the new (new to me at least) things that I can do with my blog and I think my blog will finally start looking the way I want it to soon. :) My birthday was on the seventh and I'm so excited that I can finally qualify for church dance cards and Youth Conference!  Though I am sad to be leaving the Beehive class in church (12-13) I am very excited to be moving on the the Mia-Maids and get to know all of those girls better.  I'm also super bummed about leaving behind my old (actally new)leaders, though I will be getting to know my Mia Maid leaders soon enough.  My Beehive leaders had just been called a few weeks before my birthday, so I didn't get to know them very well before moving up to the Mia Maid class.  Welp, I've got to go, so i'll finish this post later! (maybe :) - xoxo Megan

coca-cola and ice skates

LOOKBOOK.nu: "morefun thanfashion" by Cranberry Fi

I went ice skating yesterday, so when i saw this i about died. not an exaggeration. Well, maybe a little bit, but moving on. I went ice skating yesterday, for the first time in a long while and i realized that i had forgotten how much i love it! When you live somewhere as hot as i live, skating around in a freezing ice room with a hundred other people is about as close as it gets here to winter. I said this to Maddie, and she told me to stick my head in a freezer. That's what she does i guess. (helpful tip) thanks Maddie :)

ps- i love her coca-cola shirt too, and i'm determined to find myself one :)

reassuring myself for the world to see. whoops!

I'm pretty excited, because you know where in my sidebar explaining "me" it says that I can't play any intstraments even though I love music a lot?  Yeah that. Well, now that's a lie!  Because I'm learning to play the guitar.  My really great uncle (great meaning awesome-not old) is showing me some stuff, cause he can play too.  The only problem is that he lives in Idaho, which is a different state than the one I live in.  So we are currently communicating by email.  Hurray for email!  And i'm pretty happy because he's just sent me a couple of links to new tabs.  :D  And just in case you were wondering (you probaby weren't right?) the songs are... drum roll please?
  • Silent Lucidity-Queensryche
  • Dust In The Wind-Kansas
Pretty great.  So we were given an assignment in school that probably sounds easy, but really isn't.  We've been asked to make an eight page power point about our career choice.  Well, i'm not entirely sure about that.  I mean i'm almost positive that I want to work in fashion.  No, entirely positive.  But the difficulty here, is standing in front of (insert number here) kids and explaining that.  Half of them want to be pediatritians(and i can't even spell that without difficulty) and the other half want to be veteranarians.  Not that either of those are bad or anything.  I just don't believe that it's going to happen.  I am NOT  a pessimist!  Only sometimes.  Well I guess that might sound kind of hipocritical coming from me huh.  Their all thinking " A career in fashion, that won't happen".  But anyway...
I'm determined to make it happen and I guess if your as sure about something as I am, then you shouldn't be worried about your peers right?  But I guess I am.  Maybe by the time i'm actually old enough to get a job i'll be entirely set on another path, but for now that's exactly what I know i'm going to do.

fringe

ok, so i found this picture while browsing http://lookbook.nu/ and i thought it was incredible.  It was posted by Sev Scissors.  What jumped out to me about it was the t-shirt (which she cut up herself- using ideas from a tv show she'd seen) and the shoes.  I love the fringe in the shirt and the look of the lace up shoes.
-Oh hey, and side note, i got my bangs cut to be straight across again, and it makes me happy!  Side fringe is just not my thing.

Ladytron and M.C. Escher

OK so this post, is dedicate to two things. Ladytron (cool new[to me] band) that i discovered yesterday afternoon and also Escher. Super cool artist and creative person. So i was browsing iTunes for A Fine Frenzy videos and a Ladytron video happened to be in the "people who bought this also bought..." bar. So i clicked on it and through it, found the video for seventeen. Which is actually kind of a creepy song, but you can't help but not want to listen to it over and over and over again, because it has such a cool/haunting/interesting sound to it. This video(above) is for their song called Blue Jeans, which i don't know what it's about yet, but i will figure it out. I love the makeup, the hair, the attitude of the video, and the lack of atmosphere.

OK, second on the list of things to talk/type about today is Escher. Full name Maurits Cornelis Escher.  He wasn't the most gifted a math and actual learning, but his drawings, and prints were/are incredible.  He died in 1972 at the age of 73.  His mind bending, and perplexing works are still great today.  (I've got  a print of one hanging in my room)  I got an email from a friend this morning, asking what my room/house looks like (random i know) which is what led me to want to learn more about M.C. Escher.  I've had this picture hanging in my room for a long time, but my parents bought it at a yard sale for like 10 bucks in the late 90's.  I've always thought it was cool, but i never really thought about the man who made it until recently.

So my mom's been doing about a thousand people's hair and it's great and all, but I'm about dyeing(ha ha)of boredom, and i don't have a bicycle and I'm a kid right? yeah.  So what's the deal with that.  And i spent 40 bucks on a phone the other day, and it's a really super phone, but still.  You know.  That's a lot of money to just blow away on a phone right?  I'm not going to go (google) the name of my phone for you and find a picture, so if you want to know what it looks like it's name is LG Sentio.  Yep there it is.  So go, go and look it up, because you know you want to.  Do it.  You're going to aren't you.  Wait to give in to peer pressure.  Well, anyway, as far as bikes go.  My mom's birthday was yesterday, and that was exciting, but i could see that she was kind of bummed when we got her a whole bunch of little stuff, instead of the reasonably priced Bike that she wanted.  See that's where our genius comes into play.  Hers, and my Dad's anniversary is next week, or the week after that, and my Dad is getting it for her then.  Poor women, doesn't even know.  I bet she'll be excited.  I think so.  It's really pretty, and dark red, and it looks kind of "restored vintage".  Except for not.  I don't know who she's going to ride it with, or when, but she's been wanting a bike for a few years, so we'll make her happy.

pshhhh

So i found myself feeling all inspired last night.
But of course it was incredibly too late to come and post something, so i just kept reading my book. Which is actually a really good one for once.  I've already read the book of course, because my city's library is full of crap. sorry city. I'm finished with it.  Which is a bummer because now I'm pretty much left with a book about Pop Art that actually isn't really that good, and about a thousand copies of the New Era.
But back to the inspiration.  I had just read a few Teen Vogue magazines, (don't judge me) worked on a friendship bracelet for a couple of minutes, and read my book. But I've been at kind of a thinking/art/creativity slump lately. Just a little one, and doing these things somehow (sort of) brought me out.
Thank Goodness!
We've all got to go back to school soon, and heading into that without any sort of creative thinking would be total crap. But I actually did some drawing (which i haven't done successfully for a while), and i wanted to write but it's not like you just walk downstairs at 12:00 at night and start writing. Nope.  I just kept reading, and note taking, and drawing every once in a while.  But I'm happy. Which is always a good thing right? I think so.

inspiration

I saw this picture while randomly browsing posts from fashion toast's blog. not trying to find anything in particular, more out of boredom. But i found this, which totally inspires me. I needed some inspiration. Thank You fashion toast! :) i strangely wish this could have been a longer post, but that's OK, i just needed to get this up. Oh hey- i also should say that i really should be posting more often, and that it's getting sad. sorry!  Anyway.  Lets make a list! Things i love about this...
1-The Pants.  I'm not sure if they require much explanation, but still.  I love the way they fit her, and the dramatic flare at the bottom.  and this is coming from someone who hasn't worn flare jeans in years!
2- The Sun Glasses.  I've been excited about aviators for a while.  i mean it IS summer right? right.  The look just seams cool.  The way she paired it with everything just seamed to work.
3- The Shirt.  One of the reasons that i love this, is that it really is just a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.  But she wears it in a way that makes it much more fashion-y and less jeans and a t-shirt. I love the fringe at the bottom and the loose-ness of the shirt against the form fitting jeans.  I've been looking for fringe-y things for a while, because you know, fringe is just fun! but where i live it's difficult to find cool stuff some times.  Sometimes.  This shirt seams to have kind of a DIY kind of feel to it too.  Which i like.
4-The Accessories.  The overall look seams pretty simple, but the accessories (headband, bag, rings, bracelets, etc.) add something to it.  I'm not sure what the tail hanging out of the bag is, but that doesn't mean i don't like that too!

La Roux - I'm Not Your Toy

i don't really understand the meaning of this video. who does? But that doesn't mean i can't still love it!

Ladyhawke - Magic

i love this video. At first i wasn't so sure, but i love the ending, and i think it's such a cool vid :)

These guys make the coolest videos on you-tube! Tons of music videos that are fun to listen to and watch. This is just one of them. I was obsessed with this song last year. :) The link for their channel on you-tube should be in this post!

2009/2010

These are mostly if not all of the end of the year, but i thought it would be good to post on the previous year.  I mean, it was extraordinary.  In both good ways, and bad.  It was strange, it was new, it was an adventure, it was nerve racking, it was fun.  As much as it pains me to say it, despite all the idiots, and people that will just never understand, this year was a good one.  In the end, i had made some really great friends, some people i could rely on.   Amazing people, and you know who you are.  I met a few people i couldn't stand, who probably don't even know it, and a lot of people that I'll remember forever.  Maybe I'll even see them next year.  It was difficult to watch some go through pier pressure, and make, in the end, bad decisions, and amazing to watch some make amazing choices and do great things.
This year was full of excitement.  I learned so many good things from new people, and a few things i didn't need to know.  I had so many new experiences.  From playing leap frog down the hallways on my way to Phys. Ed, learning to play badminton ( and actually being alright at it), to meeting some of my best friends, to mourning over difficult times, and people that i feel I've lost, this year, the first of many middle school/high school years was full of memories.

thank you-

Mom, Dad, Allison, Nikki, Megan Knipe, Niki Burton, Maddie Birr, Karsten Mickelson, Kilee Kurzawski, Kalee Twitchell, Sidney Lange, Akaila Allen, Emily Vechiola, Molly Wolf, Mrs. Gupton, Ashley Fairbourne, Lana Stimpson, Les Stimpson, Tyler Dahmen, Megan Nielson, Melinda Hutchinson, Hannah Leber, Katie Troutman, Brooklynn Barry, The Arrowhead Ranch Ward Young Women, Mrs. Walsh, Brother Vanderstien, Sister Haines, all of my previous and current young women leaders, All of my amazing Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins that are too numorous to count.  This has been an amazing year.  Thanks to you guys.

Love~ Meg

Thefted

oh gosh. there have been strange men in and out of my house since eight o'clock this morning.  by that point i wasn't even quite awake yet. sad? ahh whatever. it's summer baby!  moving on-  he's been patching the freaking hole in the roof of the room i'm actually in at the moment, as well as another room, since that time.  He'll apparently be back soon too.  Fun fun.  My computer is also having issues, which is always great especially when you are trying to

7:41 pm- alright. this is just a bit depressing. a little (British accent) i don't even know why.  I feel that a British accent is acceptable there only because that's how i'm saying all this in my head.  So there.  Moving on...  That first blip at the beginning there was written some time this afternoon maybe 2:00-ish.  Until "Mr. Handyman" showed up once again and tryed to patch the ceiling.  Yet again- and just so you know, he ended up using the wrong paint.  FAILURE.  Ok, so the man tryed to tell me that i could stay in here and continue.  That i wouldn't bother him in the slightest, and i was like "oh, yeah i won't? well your bothering me- at least a little more than the slightest!  So there".  Well, actually i just said " no it's ok, i'll finish later.  Go ahead".  What's wrong with me?  I guess my mother did a bit too good of a job teaching manners, or something like that.

so i've decided to do a blog tribute to girl i know.  Her name is Ashley, and she's really cool.  She listens to the best music, and is an all around fun and individual person.  She was my favorite babysitter when i was like nine, and a good friend later on.  I havn't seen her in a while, but she's great anyway.  I thefted these pictures from her facebook profile, but you know, that's not actually stealing, because this is a blog tribute.  So it doesn't count.  She does the most amazing drawings, and is very creative.  (examples below)  She's got purple highlights for crying out loud!

I should probably write more, and i did have more to say, that i can't remember, but i just think this is a nice a to end, don't you?  yeah.  love ~ Meg

Boot Camp, Jump Street, Summer

I've had an extremely crazy and busy summer so far.  It's weird really because it feels like it's been summer for a while now, when really it's only been about a week!  I'm also really excited for girls camp.  We got together to work on that yesterday, and though the stake theme is Boot Camp (ie- army stuff) we changed our ward's theme to Toy Story (Plastic soldiers).  That kind of thing.  We've got flags and skits all planned out and i think this will be an amazing year as far as girls camp goes.

I'm excited about this new Jump Street place or whatever it is.  Everyone seams to want to know what it is, but there was one in the city i lived in before i moved to where i currently am.  It was actually called Jump On It there.  It's basically a bunch of trampolines hooked together and up against the walls.  Simple, but really fun.  They also had bounce houses and other stuff.  I hear that the one near me though, has lots of other stuff too.  So we'll have to see.

I've also got to find time for a movie day with some of my best buds and another day that i can hang out with the math gang.  Oh we'll see.  Some of my friends, and i have been putting together a list of random things we need to accomplish before the summer is over.  On that list is another list of around 20 movies we've got to watch.  I'm excited.  I've got a hunch that summer is going to go by way too fast this year.

My house may or may not burn down + a super new store to check out

I decided to do a post involving this really cool store i recently discoverd called Fred Flare.  Though i doubt there's going to be one near where i live, you can, buy on line, which i think is what i'll have to do.  Below- i posted some of the things that i think are really, cool.  Though of course there are more that you can take a look at on their website.  I've got the link to that on the left hand side of my blog.
a realistic plushy heart :)

really cool seafoam(ish) green headphones ( my favorite color) :D

barbie and ken lunchbox

tooth earings

these awesome sunglasses remind me of my friend sidney :)

earphones splitter

I'm extremely excited because i found out that one of my close friends has started on blogger, which is awesome.  For a while now i've been the only person(my age) that i knew who blogged, until i did some searching and found some other bloggers all over the place, and discovered that some of my friends even had blogs!  Exciting right?  Yeah, i think so.
My house smells like burning right now, because we are attempting to barbeque something.  I don't know.
Also, another extremely exciting thing that i'm not sure i'm supposed to talk about or not.  We got a Wii!  I know it's a little late, as the Wii came out maybe a year ago, but ours is cooler, as it is black.  So take that.   :)

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

i know. it really has been quite a long time since i last posted. actually i didn't check the date, i just feel like it's been far to long, as i've been on vacation for the weekend.  I'm kind of angry at myself really that i didn't get more pictures, but i'll just have to explain what i saw instead.  I know. I know.  I learn visually too, but this will just have to work.  Though we met a mean librarian, a few strange hobos walked past us, and 50% of the people we saw thoroughly creaped me out, there were also some really cool people/things to see.  There was at least one antique store on every street and all the houses were completely and utterly inspiring.  Each one was colorful and architecturally unique, unlike these copycat houses i live around.  With summer coming up in literally four days i'm hoping to get out of the partial creative slump i've been in.  I assure you this was caused by the lack of originality provided by both teachers and fellow students. Anyway. Back to vacation.  We toured a cave that was discovered in the 1970's (incredible minus the anxiety attack the humidity and lack of space gave me),wandered the streets of an amazing town, and some more stuff involving a ghost town.  At one point i actually saw a women in a wedding dress walking down the street.  interesting trip.  I love small towns and down towns.  Especially down town Phoenix, or Salt Lake City.  Both great :)  So i can't decide if i like this artist or not.  Her name is Polly Scattergood.  Look her up and decide for yourself.  I love the way her voice sounds in Please Don't Touch.  I love the lyrics and the way it all fits together.  Everything else i'm not so sure about though.  I havn't been listening long though so maybe i'll have a little bit of followup in my next post.  But probably not.  I don't know if i've told you about my forgetfulness or not, but it's a big problem for me.  I forget everything, therefore my hand is almost entirely covered in ink at all hours of the day.  Dang soap!  Washes it all off, and then everything is forgotten.  Poo.  I wish i had a picture of her to show you now, but my computer is sick and google is not working, or any other search engine for that matter.  Ugh.  So you'll just have to look her up.  Youtube is helpful as is iTunes.  So, go.  Go now.  and look her up, and comment.  That would be cool too.  Help me form an oppinion.  Wow, that's terrible.  Wait, don't help me- i like her-

  Day two-
alright. so this is day two of this post as it was cut short last time, i should probably read it through again, but it's a bit lengthy, so maybe i won't.   So as you can probably see i decided to go with a black background for a little bit.  I'm trying to find the perfect way to have my blog set up, but it'll take a while.  You'll know when it's done :)I'm still on the hunt for new and interesting artists, and today i'm listening to Marina and The Diamonds.  Look her up. now would be good. Like i was saying, she has a pretty good voice.  It's the kind of voice that could really be something, but it just isn't quite there.  It's difficult.  Lovely, and poppy, and fun to listen to.  For a few minutes.  After a while i'm kind of done with it and i want to move on.  Well, i guess i'll keep listening for a few minutes and we'll see.  I'm trying to get my thoughts on what i'm into out of a jumbled mess.  I've been trying to carry around a note book to keep lists and notes in, but in the end my hand is still covered in useless half washed off ink, and my notebook is full of drawings and poems.  Oh well.  Any suggestions? I would love some.  Because for a while writing on my hand was a part of me.  My style, my way of remembering things.  But i can't decide if maybe it's just tacky? No, tacky is not the right word.  Nevermind.  I'm using this as a space to remember things, therefore, if you see a list or two randomly posted, now you'll know what it is. unless you didn't read this, but you did, your reading it now :). here are a few links to artists i've mentioned. so forget my telling you to use iTunes, i guess this is iTunes, but still, just click on it. Go ahead you know you want to.  I hope my links aren't defective, because they're not working for me, but i guess we'll see.

The Neon Trees,Journalism,Yearbook Club

Neon Trees

I have reason to believe that Neon Trees are about to become really big.  They are rad, and you should look them up, if your reading this.  and guess what! You are! They just came out with their first album.  It's called Habits.  So, here's the thing.  NOT ONLY are they super, they are from my home town!  Well, state.  But same thing right?  So, go to iTunes.  and I mean now.  and buy their music.  Because it's the best.  Well, maybe not now.  How about tomorrow.  But do it tomorrow!

Neon Trees-Habits
I really wanted to blow these pictures up huge.  I promise.  But they were all pixel-y so i couldn't, or you wouldn't have been able to tell what is was.  You would just see a mass of colorful-ness.  Which i am not saying is a bad thing.  Anyway- I am currently taking a journalism class at school, in which a newspaper is due.  So, i'm writing my newspaper.  And i've so far written about the Apple iPad,a highschool in Utah that recreated Van Gogh's starry night with cereal,a 1920's boxer, Michael Phelps, and the history of the bob(hairstyle).  And now i think i may right an article about the Neon Trees.  Well, maybe.

The yearbooks for my school have been done for a while (i'm on the yearbook staff for my school) and i'm thinking that we are going to have to get together at some point this week.  There are officially 26-ish days left until the end of school ( at least since the last time i checked, and i don't check often).  The yearbooks are being handed out sometime during the last week of school.  I'm hoping we ( the yearbook staff) get to do that, because then we can get out of school.  And it's not like we ever do anything productive in school anyway.  Now that testing is out of the way, school is pretty much all power points about science, and Disney movies.  Not that i have a problem with Disney movies.  Because I don't.

Bang Bang-

i've been listening to all of my moody indie music today, because everyone is SO mainstream it sucks my guts out.  Not kidding. Well, sort of, but you know what i mean.  As much as getting an education is "important", i don't know how it is helping me get any closer to Hong Kong.  Long story- Also, i really wish i liked sushi.  It really is the food of cool people.  I mean really, almost every cool person i know eats sushi.  Everyone.  So, even though my parents don't like sushi, i decided that we are going to try it. (again) Last time wasn't quite pretty, but i couldn't decide if i liked it or not.  Things i'm excited about for today
1-magnetic earings(not aloud to pierce my ears more than once each)
2-summer
3-Regina Spektor
4-summer

ok, so i thought i had a longer list than i do, but it works right? i promise that i am excited about more things than just this. Really. Alright, i decided i should apolagize for the over-dramatic-ness at the beginning of the post. I mean really? sucking my guts out? who am i? It's been a long day okay? So enough with the questions

don't ask- or do. i don't care

wear dresses more than one way...

I love this. Like, a lot.  I think it's super rad, and everyone should do it.  But, i might get some looks in the school hallways if i wore the same thing every day. I guess that's the point though.  You can wear it two, three, four
different ways.  Isn't it grand :)

rain,licorice,weekends, and the lion king

wOh, i love overcast days. I love rain too i guess, unless it's cold, and i'm out in it. I don't really have to worry about that anymore. Living where i live i mean. It's almost never cold. Not even in the winter. and i love it! The only time i really love rain, is when i'm in some kind of dramatic mood and i just want to take a walk in a black hoodie outside, and be all dramatic. Or i guess, i do like raindrop races. :) and then there are those days when your inside and your in one of those sitting around the fire and being all cozy-ish days. But, not when it's cold. I've had experience with cold, trust me. So, today is overcast, but i'm very much hoping it does not turn in to rain. Actually- i wouldn't mind rain. It hasn't rained in a while, and sometimes you have to do things to remind yourself you don't like them, or to tell yourself, hey- i do like this! so, we'll see. I had one of these moments last night. My mom pulls out a bag of licorice- yuck right? right. So anyway, she's eating it, and she gives me this look like, yeah i know you don't like it. and i walk over to prove her wrong, and pull off the end of a piece. and i pop it in to see if i've changed or not, and guess what! I havn't. still disgusting.
Oh my, it's the weekend! it makes me incredibly happy to know that this stupid end of year testing is overwith. thank you! but listen, whoever chose the timing for these tests is an idiot. We still have 6-ish weeks left of school. So, now that we've learned enough to pass a test, why do we still have to learn more? what are you people trying to do? whatever. pshtttt. :)we'll probably just spend our days watching disney movies. fine by me. :)

MGMT, Sia, Tootsie Pops

I've been confused, and excited the past few days. This week starts end of year testing at school, and a few new albums have come out recently or are coming out soon, that i'm very excited for. One, MGMT-congratulations and Two,Sia-We Are Born.
We Are Born-Sia (picture of cover)

So, above is the cover of the Sia album. That comes out June 8, 2010. I don't know why i'm having such a difficult time posting lately. Posts just don't flow out the way they used to. They take effort, which is not a good sign. Of course i will keep posting, and hopefully it will be better. Have you seen the Tootsie Pop commercial with the owl and the little boy? all he wants to know is how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop. why doesn't he find out himself? i don't know- instead, he gives it to Mr. Owl, who eats it up after only three licks, what a rip-off. I wanted to add the video here, but I still havn't figured that out yet. Code's in, box is checked, etc., but it still won't let me add it. But, i'm almost possitive you know what i'm talking about. If you don't, go to youtube and type in tootsie pop commercial and click on the first video.

unfinished blogposts,spiderman,april fools,biting backpacks...

Ahhhhh! Ok, i'm sorry- I just had to start with that. I also think you should know why. So, I finally realized the reason why all of my titles where written in Hindi! It was because I had my blog set to translate into Hindi. But, apparently only part of it. So, i'm almost possitive that i've written roughly five half posts that I havn't finished. It seams that I always-always get half way through and then have to leave it. I always expect to come back to it and finish it later, but that is really just not how it works. So, i've got rouchly five half written blog posts that i'll never finish all saved away. What a waste of time. Moving on... I'm determined to finish this one, even if it is just a little snibbit. Lets hope it's not. I'm excited because we are getting into the last quarter of the school year, and I absolutely can't stand half of the kids at my school. I do like a few things though. Like pretending to be spiderman(correction:spider woman)in PE and acting like we know the school is just absolutely going to explode at 2:20 in the morning. Today is April Fools Day, which was actually pretty cool this year, because rather than making crappy jokes at the last minute, because no one came up with anything better ahead of time, some girls at our school put up signs in literally every place you could think of. Possably even in bathroom stalls, but I couldn't be possitive on that one. It was cool, and got everyone talking, which i always love. I'm actually having kind of a difficult time typing this because my left pinky finger is bandaged. I bet you want an explanation? Alright then- So i'm in my sixth hour class(journalism) and i'm walking to my backpack to get my flashdrive. I reach in and my finger comes out screaming at me, and it's bleeding! so i rush to the nurse, who is never there, and this is no exception, and I am with my friend, who quickly assumes the possission of NURSE. Obviously she has no idea what she is doing, but hey, it was fun! So we're dabbing, and cleaning, and trying to pretend we know what we're doing and the nurse walks in. She looks far more qualified than we do obviously in her winny the pooh t-shirt and sweats. She just grabs a bandaide and sticks it on, and we're out! She gave me one of those funky bandaides that only a school nurse would have. It was shaped nothing like a lefthand pinky finger, but it was really cool-ish looking, and wrapped around my finger like a straight jacket. I drew a face on the top part of it so it looked like a guy in a little jacket. I love sharpies, but mine always dry out really fast because i'm not responsable enough. That lid is always rolling away. Or sometimes I just forget. I'm ecstatic to say that I have finally finished a blog post. woo-hoo

Monday, March 8, 2010

Today was a lovely kind of Monday, mostly because we weren't required to do much.
1st hour was math. The fun has sort of worn off a bit since Mrs. Gupton has realized that during half of class i am not in my seat. Today was especially not fun, but only because Emily is STILL sick! She's been sick all weekend! it's just devistating really. it really is. So, i've discovered this new website(well, new to me anyway) that i found on another blog. us bloggers, we know what we're talking about :) so, anway, it's called www.8tracks.com it's a great way to find and share the music you like. Basically each mix is 8 tracks(roughly 30 minutes) long. It's really cool. You can make mixes for other people to rate, comment, listen to, too. I'm listening to a mix at the moment actually. ok, i'm going to get back to this post later-or maybe not, i don't know. so yeah, ~ megan

फ्रेंच ब्रीडिंग इनसिदे एंड आउट

so i'm practicing french braids, or rather, i WAS practicing my french braids. I'm pretty good at regular french braiding as long as i'm not doing it upside down. (i've tryed) now i'm learning inside out french braids which are more confusing then difficult mainly because i'm just used to doing normal ones. Basically the only difference in how you do it is the you go under instead of over while your braiding. i've been practicing on mom's plastic head. ( she has a few of those plastic heads with hair put in them left over from her days as a hair school student) It's funny to see my friend's reactions when i put one on the counter right before they walk in, or sitting on the couch or something. well, anyway-it looked really funny when i was done french braiding it's entire head. :) i'd put up a picture, but i don't have one at the moment, so i might do it later- megan

फिनाल्ली अ न्यू पोस्ट ठाट इसं'टी तेर्रब्ले

wow. so i havn't posted in quite a long time(or so it seams) i'm not sure how long it has actually been since i posted. Probably something like two days. Well, i've got a frien coming over in aproximately six minutes, which makes me happy. I'm taking her to mutual. Which is going to be exciting, not because of what we're doing, but because of the people there obviously! We could be cleaning nursury toys and it could possibly be fun because of the amazing teenage girls i get to be around. ( i am one of these and we are a part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints- you might want to check it out. I love it, maybe you will too!) ok, so enough of that. Tonight we are either having a spa night or making cookies. Either way it should be fun. I've listened through almost half of my music collection and part of my ipod today. That shows you how much of a life i have beyond music and blogging right? So anyway. If you've seen the new issue of seventeen then i hope you know how cool it is. Not because of the regular stuff like the health help tips and ways to put on your makeup. I've got that down. An hour of stupid PE class and a science project on eyeliner has helped me with that. What i'm talking about(that amazing part of this months issue of Seventeen-which i read in the public library; i should go buy it) is that it includes Paramore's Hayley Williams(whoem i love) and also Tegan and Sarah(whoem i super love) they are all super rad people. So yeah, pretty cool. So yeah. I'm bored with my wardrobe and tempted to go blow all of my money on Rodarte for Target( if it's as good as i've heard-i havn't been able to get a ride to go get it yet) but i need a new camera as mine is crappy and old and only cost me a measly fourty bucks. So yeah. I also should not go back into Thrifty Joe's again until I have more money. I could spend so much money in that store :) (great music selection) My delema is that i dislike loud little children and/or babysitting and that is my only way of making any moola. So for now i am leaving my money be in my wallet on top of my cd player. Today I got a half a day off from school because we took like five tests. um-no thank you! I'm sort of hoping those don't get scored and were only taken for aims test practice. One can only hope! Also my(required-i promise) science project(ew) was due(i thought) so i brought my ginormous tri-fold mulicolored board to school. Fantastic. I ended up having to carry it around all day because it is due TOMORROW. :( So anyway. I'll bring it to school tomorrow. Any other science fairs i've been required to take part in have forced me to come up with some kind of shpeal(that IS a word-in my book anyway) that made me jumble up my words a bunch, but in this one, apparently, i don't. I don't even have to stand in front of my board all day and be bored out of my mind for roughly 5 hours of the day. victory!!!

अल हिल थे स्नैल्स!

Today i will make up for that crappy post from yesterday-i promise. It's been a good day-as far as school days go. So after school today i went to yearbook club to work on the yearbook (obviously) and my teacher is going just a bit psycho, just like she told us she would(but we didn't believe her) when it came to the end of the yearbook. Apparently we only have one week to finish the yearbook! Isn't that super crazy? I think so. So in art class we are creating little cities, but they have to be from a bird's eye view. I don't like this, because it won't let me draw a good stage or signs or anything. Especially the little people with glow sticks who are attending the concert are very hard to draw. Dang bird's eye view! Those little people are in the music festival just outside of my city. I'm not done yet, but it's looking nice! It has a hair salon, a little cafe, a theater, and some other stuff that i can't remember right now. Wow, I am SO sorry for this really lame blog post! I need something interesting to happen in my life so that my posts will stop being dumb. Well, thanks for reading-if anyone out there is. ~megan
ugh! and that dang title again I must fix it! well-goodbye for now

वोल्फगांग अमदेउस Phoenix

wow-so the weekend has gone far too fast and makes me really think that we need another day of weekend. Don't you think? I do. Well, i just told you that so-whatever :) Anyway- I am in the middle of the process of converting my new (amazing) Phoenix CD onto i-tunes so i can listen to it not only at home, but also, i can listen to it instead of the idiots on my bus in the morning(and also afternoon) so yeah-this is a picture of it-(oh hey-i think i may have (maybe) typed about it in my last blog post? yes? I got it at Thrifty Joe's Books and Music store/aka amazing musical place. sort of. buy maybe not-i don't know- I've been reading-since i went to the library yesterday-this book (The Vinyl Princess) maybe i already told you this too? no? well, i'll tell you again. :) It's really on of my favorite books that i've ever read, i think. It's super cool- I've got the blog link on the right hand side of my own blog(you'll understand it better if you read the book first) here is a picture of it- it's written(by the way) by Yvonne Prinz: so here it is-

OK- so this is a really super confusing post- I know. The pictures are backwards :) don't ask.. and also- i don't know if you can read it, but i sure can't read the title. Well, except for the Phoenix part. It's all gibberish! so yeah- i'm going to need to figure out how to fix that...

Libraries-thrifty book stores-ect.

So, it's Saturday night. Yeah. We went to the library today and surprisingly I found something readable, maybe even enjoyable. The title of the one I am currently readin is The Vinyl Princess by Yvonne Prinz. I love it! and yes, i admit-i stole my new blog name from it(the idea anyways) Tonight after dinner we went to The book/music store. Which I love, because it is very vintage-y. Even though i dislike it, i sudgested mexican food just so we could "possibly stop by afterwards". I found an album to take home with me which I am super excited about. It's Phoenix(wolfgang amadeus phoenix). THe guy at the counter said"is this like classical or something" and i (only in my head) sneared sort of and then said no,it's indie. (my thoughts-dude! that would be wolfgang amadeus MOZART) erm-duh! I decided that I'm going to work maybe at a place like that because the people working there(though they may be a bit bored) are just sitting there listening to music and eating pretzels and such. Yeah-i know. I would love to work at a thrift(clothing) store though. That would be beautiful. Today(and this will show you how much of a life I have) i spent an entire two hours listening to music and creating letters for the title of my (stupid) science fair project board(i did not do this willingly I PROMISE) It's required. because no one that is not a nerd or in need of money quite badly would enter the science fair. So yeah- My project is called Which Is The Best Type Of Eyeliner. It has almost nothing to do with science other than the fact that i wore different eyeliner each day and took pictures of myself(morning and night) Note-i wear different eyeliner every day and occasionally take pictures of myself. So-other then the crappy graph-it's really not science. so-yeah. I don't expect the judges to be spending much time at my board. Also while at the library today(sorry to be skipping arond-well, not really actually :) I found a guide to photography, which is very exciting and well written by a seventeen year old which i like. It's very good and tought me(by the time i had read 1, 1/2 pages) that i am in need of a new camera(which i new) it will just be a bit more expensive to get a nice one then i had hoped for. So, yeah. Theres my day. Oh hey! You know what's depressing? My literature studies teacher is leaving on March 12! It makes me so sad because i was extremely excited to be having her for journalism next semester! now i have to have Mrs. Strange, rude, color contacts substatute as a permanant sub. So yeah. Lets just hope that i get computer tech(where no one does anything and everyone does nothing. SO hey-that's my day-ish ~ megan

what now?

Today was great. We were outside for art class(sixth period) and were supposed to be drawing trees. It's strange, but our school has a lot of cool trees. So we sat down and started drawing one. (pictures below) So, we ended up wasting a lot of time, but it was fun anyway. We got in trouble a couple times by Mrs. Art Teacher. Apparently we were "too loud". But we were using our "outside voices" and we were outside, so I thought it worked out well. But anyway. I like drawing trees. I was amazed(and your going to be like "what?" here, because I should have been amazed by the beauty of nature or something, but whatever, i was amazed by how big the clip boards were!) They were huge really. Like SEVEN times bigger than the actual paper. Wow. So my drawing(started) is below also and It might be too light to actually see, but i'm not sure. So- I don't know about you,but i watch American Idol every season. It's one of my favorite shows. I don't know why, it just is. :)I am loving the girls and even though the judges complain about the quirkiness, i love it! I am sort of quirky myself(i've been told) and i guess i just like that kind of stuff. My favorites are Lily Scott and Dee Dee Benami. The guys on the other hand are a bit depressing. They are all pretty pitiful and it's sad that they suck like they do,because I want them to be good. you know? yeah. So, i'm really really excited because Jenetta's brother is finally coming home tonight at 10:00pm! I mean, i don't really know him, but she's so excited that it makes me excited. Haha :) He was supposed to come home today at 1:13pm but the snow stopped his flight so he couldn't(which is kind of ironic because it doesn't even snow here)I saw her in school today and i was like "WHY ARE YOU HERE?" haha. So she told me, and we were sad together. So that was my day. I don't know why but all day i've been wanting to get on and just BLOG. I think it is mostly a way to get everything out of my head before i start the new day, which is why i post (almost) every day. I'm not just some computer freak. :) So, i'll probably be back tomorrow ~love and stuff-megan

Oh hey!! On a totally different note, i just saw the new Paramore video for The Only Exception and it is SO cool! It just makes me happy and i think i watched it like 500 times and I could watch it 500 more! It's just great! Did anyone notice that she has like a trillion pairs of sunglasses on her bed stand? nice :) reminds me of a friend of mine. I also loved that the letters she lays on are sent in from fans.. So cool :D Well, now i'm done-I promise. haha ~ love-again, meg
Mine and Kilee's pencils
this is Mrs. Art Teacher from the back.

I found this coke can and it just made me happy!
