Super Long Blog Post!

When I started this post, I had no idea it would be as long as it turned out.  I came across a blog (via pinterest) a few minutes ago, that I could tell would be cool, but that I didn't think I would spend so much time on.  I was wrong.  The blog is called Just Little Things, and I love it!  It is 344 posts of pure happiness.  Everything that we love all wrapped up in one blog.  I seriously went through every one. Yeah. Below are the ones that stuck out to me.  I'm not going to count, but there are a lot.  Have a great day!

Language Arts vocabulary boxes

Last quarter for my Language Arts class we were assigned a book project.  We were allowed to choose any book we wanted, and then follow a prompt. (The book I used was called Scrawl by Mark Shulman) The first objective was to choose 10 words from the book that we did not know, and come up with a definition of our own before looking one up.  On the right side of the page we would do that, and on the left side of each page we had to come up with something visual.  I decided to choose four words and make a collage of all the different definitions of that word.  The words I chose were Confrontational, Kingpin, Troglodyte, and Sentry.  I decided to post the three of them that I ended up liking here.  (If you were wondering, I got a 95 on the assignment.  That's a good thing, because it was out of 600 points!)

(1.) Confrontational. This one is my favorite of the four. (of the three that I posted) I have no idea where the pictures were from or how they were used before I made these collages, but the pictures fit perfectly with the word and the book.   I think the pictures are pretty self explanatory, so I won't go over each one/ each definition.

(2.) Kingpin was a difficult one because It had so many definitions.
  • Car Part
  • Head of a business
  • The center bowling pin
  • A type of motor cycle.
My favorite picture was Donald Trump.  The other ones were hard to find; especially the car part.
(3.) Troglodyte is an interesting one, because of how the author/main character uses it in the book. He's refering to one of his friends. It definitely makes sense though, they're all cave men and gorillas. (Not really, but they are not the kind of people I would usually spend my time around :) The picture in the second box (top right) is my favorite, because It's so funny.  I could never draw something like this, so when I saw it, I was amazed that someone thought it up! I also thought it was interesting that a troglodyte was a kind of bird.  They got the shaft when it came to names!
