Hair color inspiration board

I've been itching for a new look for a while now.  Though I love short hair (and sometimes I'm tempted to cut it off again!), I'm not exactly excited to go through the grow out stage that is sure to follow the chop.  I've begged for all sorts of colors ever since probably the fifth grade, but (probably for the better) my parents didn't allow it.  I've got a couple of panels of bleach in the left side of my hair (which I love), and the regrowth is actually processing as I write!  What I love about the placement and look of my current bleached pieces, is that the roots stay hidden (so low maintenance), but I can make it noticeable if I want to.  Though I love this look, I really need something new!  I used to cut my hair different ever couple of months, but when you are growing it out, you can't really do that...   My solution?  Pastel colors :)  We'll see what my Dad says.  He's not in love with the idea of my hair in color, but I think I've hit a good middle ground with pastels, or even just colors that don't fade into green or barf-y hues.  We'll see, but for now- here are pictures of my top three favorite colors (not necessarily placements) for dye.  :

Designer spotlight: Proenza Schouler

I was browsing voguepedia and vogue.com and fell in love with the Fall 2010 Ready to wear collection.  It's full of beautiful baby doll dresses, tapered jeans (80's inspired), and an overall grunge meets glam look that anyone can channel. Here are a few examples of my favorites, and what stuck out to me about each one:

(The pairing of this structured jacket with the sweet white shirt underneath and the studded platform shoes.  When I was little It always bothered me when anyone would wear blue, black, or brown together.  With designs like these mixing the colors so well, it's hard to think that I ever could have thought that way. )



(This one really stuck out to me.  I love the little pop of yellow that isn't really seen anywhere else in the collection, though the whole look flows.  I also noticed the leather pockets on the structured black shorts, which I love.)

(I saw pants like these on Tavi Gevinson about a year back and loved them, but at the time I didn't know much about Proenza Schouler, and so I moved on.  The combination of two patterns that could potentially fight each other (but working), is wonderful.  Also I think there needs to be something said about the plum/maroon lip stick the models wear so easily.  I think people believe that such a dark color has to be a huge statement.  But the muted hew (maybe a lip stain?) works great on all of Proenza Schouler's models. )

(This look reminds me of being a little kid and wrapping my jacket around my waste at recess. The wrapping is about as far as that comparison goes, but what draws me to it is the symmetry and how well the layering of fabric works.  Also, Though the hemlines are short, I love that for the most part the tops are mostly modest and cut very high.)

San Juan Capistrano Mission

Over Thanksgiving weekend my familiy traveled to California to go to Disneyland and stopped by the San Juan Capistrana Mission before we went home.  It was beautiful and a truly inspiring place to take pictures.  I took advantage of course! Here are a few of the pictures I took while we were there. (ps: Don't you love the lighting? It was about 3:30, and in my opinion the best time of day to shoot. Hurray!)

I know. I know.

My title is a little bit more than hypocritical, but I'm inspired! With my increasing homework flow and crazy schedule, I think I need some tips.

Book Project: The Maze Runner by James Dashner

I finally decided on a book to use for my project, and a way to present it.  Heres the prompt:

Write a one page summary of your book, then choose 5 to 7 characters from your book and explain who they are.  Include a character description and collage of pictures for each character.

I found this cute accordion booklet on acreativemint, and knew it would be perfect for my project.  On one side I'll do my collage and on the other, a drawing of my character and information.  It will have to be one or two panels longer, but I can do that.

This was my other option, but I decided the accordion booklet worked better for my purpose.  The tutorial is great though, so I'll leave a source anyway!

Tim Burton is my inspiration for the character drawings.  It's kind of a creepy/ science fiction-y book, so the drawings match how I imagine the characters perfectly.
